The Balkan War was a piece of history that we would all like to forget.
We would like to forget not only for the atrocities committed and suffered by these peoples in search of their ethnic balance,
geographical, historical, cultural and identity, but rather because it is difficult for us to admit that they happened
in a society that we now consider adult and accomplished, therefore honest and meritocratic; when, on the other hand, reality tells us a very different story: all this took place in the heart of a Europe where the right to life is sacrosanct.

These images want to tell a story through the four natural elements; the story of a woman whose cry has been calling for justice for far too long. His voice seems to come from the world of the invisible. A woman forced to be victim of the most ferocious of violence, she must bring into the world the son of her enemy, the seed of evil. The girl is annihilated as a woman, as a mother, as a believer and as a human being. Too often these existences are lost in oblivion and the hope of this series is to force us to look that girl in the eye, listen to her pain and find the strength not to turn away, to redeem all those women whose face or name we do not know.

# 1 – water
THE VOICE

The white veil is a symbol of purity and candor. It is also the symbol of Islam, of the faith that women carry with them, of the innocence that sooner or later will be dirtied by man’s violence. A veil that disappears in the last image, two complementary gazes that at the same time oppose each other and cancel each other out. Eyes open, face almost totally immersed in clear water. The woman is as pure as the water that surrounds her.

# 2 – fire
NOISE

The leading actor is the original cover of a well-known international newspaper. The burning text is the emblem of foreign aid that never arrived and of indifference towards a war that was taking place in the heart of Europe. A female hand,
lying on the ground, seized by a male, lying next to the fire that burns relentlessly. The act of violence is taking place. In the image it’s night and the moon is the only witness of the event.

# 3 – earth
SILENCE

Detail from above of the belly of the girl lying on the earth from which she is almost completely submerged; her body is dirty because she feels dirty; bear the signs of evil immediately and breathe. The land is fertility and that breath is no longer just hers, now something else is born, a son.
The scene is rough, sad.
The woman carries the seed of the evil act in her womb.

# 4 – air
(NO TITLE)

The woman’s face is wet;
the water in the first image is no longer there, it has been drained together with innocence. The wind that moves the hair is the only element of movement in the image.
The woman took off her veil:
there is no longer faith and purity;
the woman is physically and mentally annihilated and that is why the colors have faded. The darkness is sucking her in, her eyes are closed and she is becoming invisible, like air.
She no longer exists.
